QMJ Practice assists with the prevention and treatment of chronic diseases, including heart disease, diabetes, lung disease and conditions, hyperlipidemia and cancer. We emphasize patient education and work toward developing individualized treatment plans that include both lifestyle changes and prescribed medication as needed. We offer several in-office procedures and testing, making the treatment process as easy as possible for our patients.
QMJ Practice has extensive experience treating coronary heart disease and congestive heart failure. We offer complete testing for these conditions in our office and have full access to other resources as necessary, including the best cardiology consultants in the area. In the cases of angioplasty or catheterization, most of our patients with heart disease conditions are referred to Oakwood Heritage Hospital or Henry Ford Wyandotte Hospital.
QMJ Practice handles both Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes cases with complete testing and monitoring available right in our office. This includes the Hemoglobin A1C test, which measures the percentage of hemoglobin coated with sugar in the blood. As part of our philosophy, we believe that education is key to controlling diabetes. We frequently refer our patients to diabetic educators in the area.
The physicians at QMJ Practice can develop treatment plans for lung diseases and conditions including Asthma, COPD and pulmonary embolisms.
Asthma is an inflammation of the lung airways that can cause coughing, chest tightness, wheezing or shortness of breath. Without treatment, over time irreversible lung damage can occur. QMJ Practice works with our patients to develop individualized plans for avoiding triggers and controlling symptoms.
The goal at QMJ Practice is to prevent trips to the hospital as much as possible. We treat COPD patients acutely through the use of breathing treatments and steroids. The key to managing COPD is to avoid triggers. Patients are encouraged to quit smoking and medications are prescribed as necessary to help control symptoms.
A pulmonary embolism is a blood clot that moves from the legs into the lungs. This condition is usually treated through the use of blood thinners like Coumadin. Pulmonary embolisms need to be closely monitored by checking the patient’s blood periodically, which can be done directly in our office.
Hypertension (high blood pressure) is a condition also known as “the silent killer”. Failure to control hypertension may cause organ damage (kidneys and heart), strokes, congestive heart failure or renal failure. QMJ Practice helps manage high blood pressure to prevent end organ damage with the most current and effective medications available.
QMJ Practice has treatment plans available for patients with hyperlipidemia, or high cholesterol. Positive results can be achieved through the use of effective prescription medications used in conjunction with diet and exercise methods. Our patients are encouraged to use Niacin and fish oil/omega 3 vitamins whenever possible. All cholesterol testing is done directly in our office, with results available immediately. In the event that cholesterol medications are prescribed, patients are closely monitored to prevent any damage to the liver.
We refer many of our patients needing physical therapy to our team of talented therapists that are knowledgeable and skilled
